“In 2024, the spotlight is on 12 beloved films released from 1939 through 1999 and beyond, headlined by a pair of 85th Anniversary presentations saluting ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Gone with the Wind,'” says Fathom’s website.
Starring Judy Garland, the film is based on the kids’ book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum, first out in 1900.
First shown in August 1929, this film is famous for its bright colors, great storytelling, and catchy songs, bagging six Oscar nominations.
Though it didn’t grab the “Best Picture” Oscar, Garland’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” won “Best Original Song.” The movie also scored the “Best Original Score” award.
