Mattel’s giving a shoutout to singer Stevie Nicks with a brand-new Barbie doll.
This cool doll’s got the Stevie Nicks look from Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 “Rumours” album cover. You know, the one where she’s rocking her “Rhiannon” getup? Yep, that’s inspired by their 1975 song about a Welsh witch.
“When I look at her, I see my 27 year old self~ All the memories of walking out on a big stage in that black outfit and those gorgeous boots come rushing back~ and then I see myself now in her face,” Nicks wrote on social media. “What we have been through since 1975~ the battles we have fought, the lessons we have learned~ together. I am her and she is me. She absolutely has my heart.”
This awesome doll’s dropping on Nov. 10, but here’s the kicker – it’s already sold out! Stevie spilled that it’s been in the making for a good while.
And fans got a sneak peek when Stevie flashed the “Stevie Barbie” at Madison Square Garden. She proudly showed off those “amazing boots” on stage, and people got to see it thanks to some vids on social media. Cool beans!
The singer gave Mattel her “Rumours” cover dress and boots to help them get the doll just right, said designer Bill Greening.
“As in the hit song Rhiannon, Stevie looks ready to take to the sky like a bird in flight with her flowing chiffon statement sleeves,” Mattel wrote in its description of the $55 doll. “Stevie’s bewitching look is finished with her signature golden moon necklace, tall black boots, and a tambourine with cascading ribbons.”
By the way, Mattel’s made dolls for other big stars too, like Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan, David Bowie, Elvis, Elton John, and Tina Turner. How cool is that?
