Some are so funny they might become classics one day. While others might not reach “all-time favorite” status, they sure do make us giggle for a bit. The top recent comedy hits help us put our worries on pause. They leave us feeling lighter and brighter, and that’s always worth a watch. 

Today’s comedies are all about big names like Melissa McCarthy, Seth Rogen, Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, and Amy Schumer. They’re the ones setting the comedy stage on fire right now.

Imagine diving into a video game world where everything’s funny and wild! That’s what happens to Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy. It’s a fun, fast-paced mix of games and giggles. In this zany place, he finds out that laughing and being yourself are super important. Shawn Levy gives us a movie that’s both exciting and touching, filled with funny moments, and cool adventures. 

Parasite

Year: 2019 

Directed by: Bong Joon-ho 

Parasite mixes humor with some serious stuff about rich and poor people. With lots of funny parts but also deep thoughts, it’s a movie that makes you laugh and think. Everyone in it does an amazing job, especially Kang-ho Song. And it won some huge awards! Bong Joon-ho shows us a story that’s funny but also kinda sad. 

Everything Everywhere All at Once

Year: 2022 

Directed by: Dan Kwan, Daniel Scheinert 

This film is a wild ride! It’s got Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis jumping through time and space. Imagine a housewife in cool clothes fighting space monsters – that’s this movie! The directors, Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan, make it look amazing. And guess what? It won a bunch of Oscars! 

Bullet Train

Year: 2022 

Directed by: David Leitch 

Hop on a fast train with lots of jokes and action! Bullet Train has Brad Pitt playing a spy on a train ride filled with fun and surprises. The whole thing’s a laugh-a-minute ride, with some cool action scenes to boot. David Leitch makes sure there’s never a dull moment on this train trip. 

Palm Springs

Year: 2020 

Directed by: Max Barbakow 

Ever felt like you’re living the same day over and over? That’s what happens in Palm Springs. But with a fun twist! Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti are stuck in a loop, but they find the funny side of it. It’s a sweet, silly story about love and laughter, and Max Barbakow serves up lots of both. 

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Year: 2022 

Directed by: Tom Gormican 

Nicolas Cage plays but in a super funny way in this movie. He gets mixed up in all sorts of funny situations with big stars like Pedro Pascal and Tiffany Haddish. Tom Gormican makes sure the whole thing’s a laugh, reminding us not to take things too seriously. 

Jumanji: The Next Level

Year: 2019 

Directed by: Jake Kasdan 

Back to the game! This time, “The Rock” and Kevin Hart lead the charge, and the laughs are bigger than ever. Jake Kasdan turns the Jumanji world upside down with new jokes, big adventures, and a bunch of friends just trying to have fun. It’s a wild, funny ride from start to finish. 

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Year: 2022 

Directed by: Rian Johnson 

Who did it? That’s the question in this funny mystery movie. With stars like Daniel Craig leading the way, it’s a mix of laughs and “aha!” moments. Rian Johnson keeps everyone guessing (and chuckling) in this movie that’s part joke, part mystery. 

Jojo Rabbit

Directed by: Taika Waititi 

Imagine a kid’s made-up friend being… Adolf Hitler. Weird, right? But Taika Waititi makes it both touching and hilarious in Jojo Rabbit. With stars like Scarlett Johansson, this movie’s a rollercoaster of laughs and heart. It’s a big reminder that sometimes, the silliest ideas can be the most touching. 

Triangle of Sadness

Year: 2022 

Directed by: Ruben Östlund 

Ever wonder what models would do stuck on an island? This movie has the answer, and trust me, it’s hilarious. Ruben Östlund pokes fun at fashion, looks, and just how crazy life can be. With Harris Dickinson and Charlbi Dean leading the way, it’s a laugh-out-loud look at a very stylish world.
