A 34-year-old man, previously convicted of a severe offense, escaped from a Pennsylvania jail last Thursday. Danny Cavalcante had recently been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Cavalcante made his escape from Chester County Jail in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on Thursday morning at approximately 8:45. By late Friday night, local home security cameras captured footage of him not far from the correctional facility. The District Attorney’s office confirmed the sighting at around 1:43 a.m. on Lenape Road and noted that his appearance remained unchanged.
Authorities have labeled Cavalcante as highly dangerous. On the day of his escape, he was spotted on Wawaset Road in Pocopson at around 9:40 a.m. Details of his escape have not been made public; prison officials have only stated that an investigation is ongoing.
On Friday, the District Attorney’s office posted on social media that efforts to locate Cavalcante are still active, with numerous law enforcement resources, including helicopters and K-9 units, being deployed. “We are following up on every lead,” they stated.
The U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia have reported that Cavalcante is also wanted for a crime in Brazil. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and limited English. He stands at approximately 5 feet and weighs around 120 pounds. His last known appearance showed him with black hair, brown eyes, and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray shorts, and white sneakers.
Members of the public are advised not to approach Cavalcante but to call 911 immediately. A reward of $10,000 has been offered for information leading to his capture.
Following Cavalcante’s escape, Chester County’s Emergency Services issued a high-priority alert. Multiple police units, including K-9 units, drones, and helicopters, are actively searching for him.
Cavalcante was convicted of first-degree murder in August for killing his ex-girlfriend in April. The victim’s family has been notified of his escape. Details regarding Cavalcante’s case in Brazil remain undisclosed.
