In the dimly lit streets of Arvada, a shocking crime unfolds that’ll send shivers down your spine. On the fateful evening of Aug. 29, the whispers of gunshots echoed in the air. The perpetrator? A man fueled by jealousy and rage.
Orlando Carbajal, with the aid of Ashley Marie Burnet and a stolen ride, is said to have hunted down his former flame and her new love. In a hair-raising sequence, two separate shooting incidents were reported: one on the eerily quiet West 60th Place, the other near the intersection of 58th Avenue and Ward Road.
As bullets flew, the boyfriend caught two of the almost nine shots fired, both in the leg. While the wounded lover was rushed to a nearby hospital, fighting for his life, Carbajal and Burnet fled, vanishing into the night.
But, like all sinister tales, the culprits couldn’t hide for long. On Sept. 7, with the Denver Police SWAT team hot on their trail, Carbajal found himself behind bars. His crimes? Attempted homicide, assault, burglary, menacing, and carrying a weapon despite a tainted past.
And what of the accomplice, Burnet? She too was caught, not just for the stolen car but also with a list of warrants to her name. And, as the plot thickens, she’s slapped with a heavy charge: accessory to attempted murder. Hold on tight, people. In Arvada, the drama’s just getting started.
